SALMAN ATTAR (11/20/2020)
The flora and fauna in the Maharashtra Nature ParknSaid to be the Green Lung of Mumbai, the Maharashtra Nature Park provides everyone a very pleasant escape from the pollution-ridden life of the city. Being fine abode to several species of flora and fauna, the park is visited mostly by nature lovers.......nnAs you enter the threshold of the park, you begin wondering how so much greenery can originate close to the place, which is the biggest slum of Asia. More to wonder, the rich greenery of the nature park maintains proudly to boasts of its 200 species of trees. The mangrove evergreen forest causes plenty of species of birds, butterflies, insects and fungi to thrive in the park.......nnBeyond counting approx 200 species of trees, the park has 38 species of butterflies and 80 species of birds. Between October and March, the park becomes a very favourite spot for bird watchers, as one can see thousands of birds hovering over the Mithi river and in the park.nnThe area on which the Park has been created was previously a garbage dumping ground.........

The 37-acre land was once one of Mumbai’s biggest dumping grounds located on the banks of the Mithi river. In 1994, due to many years’ efforts, this vast and sprawling space was turned into a gorgeous forest park with a large eco-system, and a blanket of over 12,000 trees in it!nLocated right by the edge of Dharavi, Maharashtra, the forest park is a large, densely forested area with a brambly path for people to walk on. On your walk, you will come across different Gulmohar trees, teak trees, lasora trees, brambles and bushes. Besides the park, they also have an amphitheatre, a library on environmental books for researchers, an art gallery, and audio-visual hall for seminars, an activity hall, and an education center building. One can even buy plants at the cheapest rates inside the park, and the shopkeepers also give you tips and tricks for recycling and reuse. Just head there on a weekend and surround yourself with some fresh air and greenery!nThe park opens at 8:30 AM and shuts by 3:30 PM, and you pay INR 20 as your entry fee.

Good place to visit if you want common plants for very cheap. The staff is local government employees. Variety of plants is not that much but you will find all common plants which grows in Maharashtra. The pricing is good. Plants and healthy. They need to organize this park. It can become famous if they updated and make it pretty with little bit of arrangements.
