Karaivetti Bird Sanctuary

Visited during the month of December and the weather was perfect to spend some time in the sanctuary. Reaching there is bit tricky, better to take help from the local people for the directions. The place is a serene, quiet hidden gem and has the potential to be a popular tourist spot. Don't forget to carry your binoculars and enjoy the views.

Water was at the full capacity of the tank, crystal clear and tasted as best as rain water... There were native birds, I didn't find any migratory birds as I expected. Good time spent there.

Scenic spot but still closed since the COVID-19 Lockdown, so we birded from outside.The watcher was well-versed to tell us the species found and spotted birds for us. Winter migration would be better time to visit. We managed to spot 20 species in half hour. Good spot enroute for birders visiting Thanjavur.

I worked here for 2 months in revetment work. At that time I saw so many birds of different types. Very beautiful place. Now the govt upgrading the bird sanctuary's quality.
