Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary (Kodiakarai)

We didn’t actually plan to go here. On the way to Madurai, came across the sign and board and just drove in. We went in the wrong time too. We reached there by 1pm and there were a handful of birds that we can see. But in the distancenWe could see the horizon filled with Migratory birds. The local ppl said by around 4-5 the birds get close to The shore. And seems oct-Nov is the best time to Visit. We planned to Again Next Month.nnThe place has no shade for cover fromnThe sun. Carry water and Things for yourself I shops anywhere.

Nice place and tourism is good

One of the 37 Ramsar sites in India.

Poor facility. One of the prominent spots to see black buck but then they usually reside almost 6km inside the sanctuary. They dont have transport facility to take you inside and show all around. Bikes are not allowed. If you have your own car you can take it and go all the way to 6kms and see few black bucks, horses. If not other option is to take an auto and he charges around 500 rupees to show inside. Closes by evening 5 PM
