Bellefontaine Cemetery

Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful in all seasons for both the nature and monuments. Fascinating history.

This place is super cool. If you like history and architecture you'll love it. I've seen a lot of it but not all and even in areas I've been I find something new. Many notables from St. Louis' long history are here. Busch, Lemp, Wainwright, Cupples, Lambert, Eads and even William Clark to name a few. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and many of the graves appear to have not aged at all. It rivals the Missouri Botanical Garden and if I'm not mistaken they share a lot of the same staff. The cemetery provides an app that's been awesome in finding and learning things but I haven't been able to get it to work the last couple of times. The roads are mapped on Google Maps and driving to a certain destination is very easy. But be careful you'll find yourself wandering away from your car just looking around. I would love to catch a guided tour but haven't been able to make one. But, if it works, the app has the same information. There is a public restroom near the gate house and they have a small souvenir shop on site also.

One of my absolute favorite places to go on a walk in St. Louis. There is an infinite amount of history and architecture.

Beautifully kept, tons of history! They do tours which tell you of all the wonderful history. Plus if you are a geocacher there are numerous geocaches.

Went there to enjoy the grounds... no worries, everyone there practicing social distancing!
