The main structure of the Shah Alam Tomb is a three-domed mosque with five arches and two main prayer chambers. Alongside the main prayer chamber there is a smaller area raised on pillars and covered with stone jaali, latticework screen. This was for women worshippers. The mausoleum itself, built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq for Saint Shah Alam in the 14th century, is in the centre of the courtyard and faces the mosque. It is placed on a raised square platform surrounded by a dozen stout stone pillars supporting a multi-tiered dome.
One can see two things of historic importance at this one spot both built by Feroze Shah Tughlaq in the fourteenth century.nFirstly, there is the tomb of saint Shah Alam, there’s no ticket required and the place is well maintained considering almost no one ever comes here. I was the only here and the place is more than six hundred years old made me happy.nThe place is a bit seedy with some boys hanging around smoking and gawking, do try to come during the day time only and no unaccompanied women certainly.nSecondly, is the Wazirabad Bridge, Delhi’s oldest bridge also from the same period and still carrying traffic.nI even drove over it and was faced with an assortment of traffic including a bullock cart.
It is the monument of national importance. Built by the Firuz Shah Tughlaq (1351-88) for Shah Alam Tomb is located on the Wazirabad Pul. Good architecture but not famous due to very less space. The principal monument is a mosque, planned in a rectangular form and has two bay deep prayer chambers with five pointed arch openings. The rear bay is surrmounted with three domes. A small chamber screened with stone jalis and supported with pillars is placed for the use of women devotees.nThe Shah Alam tomb is located in centre of enclosed courtyard of the mosque. The tomb is planned in square form and the grave is placed over a raised plinth.nTwelve pillars are located along side of the tomb which support the domical roof at top. Sides of the tomb were originally screened with preforated jalis some of them are surving.nTo reach here, the nearest bus stand is Wazirabad pul. It is just back of the Wazirabad pul bus stand. Buses coming from Mukarba chowk and going towards Anand Vihar, Chauhan Patti or harsh vihar stop here. It is about 5 kilometres from kashmeeri gate and 8 kilometres from Mukarba chowk. Within 2 kilometres Yamuna river blow here.

A stencil-perfect ornate floral design, dyes still intact, is engraved on to the convexity at the top. A smaller, single-domed structure is across the tomb with cooler, darker interiors. A flight of steep stone stairs led up the main mosque from where you could see the still-in-use Wazirabad Bridge of the same age. The watchman of the site keeps the place under lock and key saying students from the nearby colleges use the premises for 'shaitani.' However he will open the gates for anybody who don't have shaitani on their mind or are serious about heritage.
So good to see adjacent to signature bridge and wazirabad village delhi-84
