Panachikkad Dakshina Mookambika Temple is very ancient and has a history of about thousand years.It is very famous for Vidyarambham initiation of education.nnThe temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The idol of Saraswathi devi was installed later by one Namboodiri of Kizhapuram Illam who was a devotee of Mookambika.It is believed that the divinity of Mookambika presides over as Goddess of Panachikkad in a low terrain south of the temple as if devi is seated in a pondnnA spring flows continuously touching the feet of the deity.The idol is covered with creepers and not clearly visible to devotees. Pujas are offered on another idol installed near the main idol.The temple has no shrine or roof.The whole atmosphere is very calm and peaceful.

Panachikkad Temple is known for Vidyarambham is termed as Dhakishna Mookambika..Though Goddess Saraswathi is known Vishnu is also given equal prominence..Very calm atmosphere...Blessed to have visited the temple..The temple rituals are taken care of by the Kaimukku Mana..They have a well kept Guest house..
