It is a state bus depot and is generally crowdy. Less cleaned and unhygienic. You might easily get buses to near by place like Mysore, Mangalore, udupi , etc. It has good in state connectivity. Normally, from here you can get bus for any part of karnataka. AC buses are good and comfortable but non-AC are unbearable for long journey. (Journeys which take more than 4hrs).
