Connaught Place is one of the main financial, commercial and business centres in New Delhi, India. It is often abbreviated as CP and houses the headquarters of several noted Indian firms and is a major shopping, nightlife and tourist destination in New Delhi. It was designed by Robert Tor Russell.

Connaught Place is a frenetic business and financial hub, centered on a ring of colonnaded Georgian-style buildings with global chain stores, vintage cinemas, bars and Indian restaurants. Stalls at Janpath Market sell saris, embroidered bags and trinkets. The peaceful Sikh temple Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is known for its reflecting pool, and Jantar Mantar is a 1700s observatory with huge astronomical instruments.

Welcome to Cannaught Place – the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi! Officially called Rajiv Chowk and often abbreviated as CP.Cannaught Place is the largest commercial center of the region. The structure is a heritage building of the land, which was constructed in early 20th century.CP is modelled on the Royal Crescent in Bath in England. The Crescent in Bath was built as terraced houses in the Georgian architecture style. It was built during the period 1767 to 1775. This beautiful architecture was replicated in Lutyens Delhi during the British rule in the period 1929-1933. It was named Connaught Place after the Duke of Connaught who was the 3rd son of Queen Victoria and was developed as the financial and commercial hub for Delhi.
