A wonderful wetland ecosystem formed as an after effect of the implementation of 'kavanakkallu regulator cum bridge' at Oorkkadav.nnEarlier this area was completely paddy fields, but now a few patches of cultivated area are existing.nnExtensive clay mining has been done here in past years which has lead to the formation of such a deep wetland area as it is now.nnCurrently the wetland is a paradise of birds (Migratory as well as the local species) and fresh water creatures.nnBut there are very less conservatory actions taken for the protection of this biodiversity ecosystem.nnMany of the corners of this wetland ecosystem are filled by dumping concrete and rock wastes.
