Food Corporation of India Regional office is housed in the Old State Assembly Secretariat, Thangal Bazar Imphal. Established as separate regional office in January 2014, it is responsible for movement of foodgrain stocks from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh etc to Manipur via Railheads Jiribam (Manipur) and Dimapur (Nagaland), storage and distribution of foodgrsin to government of Manipur through network of nine godowns at various locations. FCI is the nodal agency for implementation of National Food Security Act 2013 and Other Welfare Schemes such as Mid Day Meal schemes, Nutrition programs of ICDS/ Social Welfare Department, etc. Hence Government of India is ensuring national food security through FCI.
