Once upon a time this pond was one of the main water source of the town. The periphery and the water, both were very clean. Then in the eighties of last century, for some period, the Private Bus-stand moved on to it's bank. With that came the degradation of the great pond. Towards the last part of last century, a water park and boating club was started here. With that the glory of the place has started recovering. But cleanliness is still a big issue.
