A placard outside the shrine suggests that it is run by Dharmachakra Indo-Japan Buddhist Cultural Society.nThe original name of the Japanese temple is Nichigai Suzan Horinji Temple but it is commonly referred to as 'Japanese Temple' by local guides and tourists. The pleasing architecture of the temple is reminiscent of the world renowned Japanese temples in Kyoto, Japan. Before the main temple, on the right side, there is a statue of the Buddha in a calm pose beneath a tree. On the left side there is a pillar with Japanese inscriptions.nnThe aura of calmness inside the temple is to be felt to be believed. The interiors of the temple are serenely beautiful. There’s a huge wooden statue of the Buddha in reclining pose with an exquisite design on the head. The Buddhist mantra of Na Mu Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo is close to the main statue. The aroma of sandalwood is an added charm as all the small statues and other wood furniture is made out of sandalwood. It is a perfect place for meditation and calm. At times, Japanese tourists may be spotted laying prostrate upon the ground in devotion.
