After bathing at Deoprayag we proceeded to Raghunath temple. Considered one of the 108 divyadesams this place is referred to as Tirukandam Kadinagaram. Periazhwar has sung 11 pasurams about this divyadesam. Perumal in standing posture is Neelamega Perumal/Purushottama or Raghunath and Thayar is Pundareekavalli and pratyaksham to Bharadwaja maharisi.We climbed several steps to reach this temple. Rama or Raghunath is 15 feet tall and we have Garuda facing Him. This spot is associated with the penance Rama and Lakshmana performed inorder to atone for the sin of killing a brahman that is Ravana. Dasaratha is also supposed to have meditated at Deoprayag which at a height of 2700 ft. The name Deoprayag came because a sage named Devasharma lived a disciplinary life in the dharmic mode here.After spending some time here we proceeded to our bus after buying pedas from one of the small shops and giving dakshina to local brahmins.
