Great piece of history preserved at great location. Long lunch hours. Visitors left the place without seeing it. A cafeteria would help since no any place around to have snacks/refreshments.

Dagshai boasts of a nineteenth century jail constructed in the year 1849. The jail was constructed in T shape with a high ceiling. The jail has wooden flooring made of teak wood specially seasoned for anti-termite and it is holding good uptil now which speaks volumes about the quality of the work done. The reason behind the wooden flooring was that the guards can easily hear the movement made by the prisoners. Ingenious. There are 43 prisoner cells out of which 27 cells were common cells and 16 were solitary confinement cells. Solitary confinement cells were kaal kothri which had no provision for lights and fresh air. Mahatma Gandhi was once housed by Britishers in this jail becoming the high point in the history of this jail. Iron gates of each cell were made of specially casted iron alloy which made it impossible for the prisoners to cut these gates.

quite a creepy place..seeing all those empty cells for prisoners and those things/devices used to torture them surely gives chill in your spine....but yeah a must place to visit for adventure seekers like meud83dude0bnNOTE: Mahatma Gandhi was also kept their once...haha...check out the pics!!
