Stefano Silvestri (11/06/2019)
DESCRIPTION AT YOUR PLACE Founded in the X century. Built in the fifteenth century. Consecrated on 06/18/1388 and 6/18/1977 by Card. Carpino. HISTORY Before the century XV was called "Villa Franca", despite the history of Ospital Monacale interwoven with that of its church dependent on the nuns of S. Silvestro. It was called "Ospitale delle monegane" precisely because of the rights exercised by the Ferrarese nuns of S. Silvestro. Historians speak of a church dating back to the century. X and in 1322 this church was of episcopal collation; it was then replaced with a more substantial church, consecrated on 22 June 1358. The parish was established in the century. XV, the care of souls and the officiatura were entrusted to a chaplain until the end of the century. XVI, when the bishop mons. Giovanni Fontana, at the request of the nuns, instituted a perpetual vicar. Over the years the sacred building underwent many restorations and in recent years, given the alarming static conditions, radical works were carried out, which however left the apse and facade unchanged. The original bell tower surmounted by an unbroken Guelph battlements.
