The church of S. Maria dei Greci dates back to 1260 and was one of the first churches of Christianity, a meeting place for the first Christians led by San Pancrazio. It was annexed to the monastery of Benedictine cloistered nuns wanted in Vizzini by S. Silvia, mother of S. Gregorio Magno. The history of the church is connected to that of the cloistered monastery. In the book of the sac. Girolamo Di Marzio Ferro, on p. 98, it reads: "... There is a pyx in square shape of gilded silver, enameled, with a hexagonal foot and in each face you can see a martyr saint. In addition, there is a triptych of Greek date, in the Byzantine-Gothic style, located above the High Altar, 6 palms high and 3 palms wide. It represents in the center the image of the Madonna with the Child Jesus in her arms, having a star in her right shoulder. Besides the yellow halo around the head of the two figures, the Child is adorned with a red coral necklace. In the acumen of this triptych the Eternal Father is depicted half-length, col triangle behind the head and with the beard not already venerated and white, but as a young man and chestnut colored: he holds the figure of the world in his hand ”. The following inscription is read under this triptych: "IN GREECE TRANSLATED YEAR 385" "IN SARACENORUM FIRE 829" "NON SUM AESTUATA" Traces of the triptych were lost in the 1950s, but were recovered in 1985. The municipal administration of Vizzini had a conservative restoration carried out of the triptych from the Diocesan Laboratory of Ragusa and currently the triptych is exhibited in the Mother Church of S. Gregorio Magno in Vizzini. As the architect Francesco Valenti states in the report of 20 June 1901, the current church of S.M. the Greeks is undoubtedly the one rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake. There is an adjoining bell tower built in 1828. The church has a single nave. Behind the chapel are the remains of construction from the early 15th century from the original monastery. Suggestive and inviting place for prayer and meditation. Today it is the home of the Repairing Handmaids.
