The adjoining church and convent were originally built in 1523 in the Santa Barbara district, about one kilometer from the town. "The Capuchins arrived in Sicily in 1534 and in the space of 40 years they founded 50 convents, in 1650 they counted 99 monasteries, 3 hospices and 3 infirmaries ... In an apostolate made of service and love of neighbor their preaching was simple popular ... the Capuchin Fathers of Vizzini founded their first convent in the Santa Barbara district ”. The current church is the one rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693, in 1704. It is dedicated to Saint Barbara and Saint Francis of Assisi. It has a simple façade and has a single nave with a high altar in carved and inlaid wood. The Church preserves works of undoubted artistic value. There is a statue of Jesus with the triregno; a statue of Saint Barbara of the '500. There is still a painting entitled "The Deposition" by Filippo Paladino from 1607 and a canvas by San Francesco in ecstasy by the painter from Monreale Pietro Novelli, a painting by Santa Barbara and a precious ciborium. Finally, there is the painting and the relics of the Vizzinese Beata Sister Veronica Barone.
