"If you want to suffer the torments of hell, go to Trento in summer and to Feltre in winter". Few ignore this proverbial adage, although in reality climate changes have partly mitigated this popular refrain. With regard to the rigor of his winters, a legend has it that during a brief stay in Feltre, Giulio Cesare produced a couplet that reads "Feltre a neve damned to this stone / for more you don't see, perhaps, you lapse".

The central town square. Also known as the island square. Characteristic of this square is the plant of sophora japonica which stands majestically. It was once the focal point of city commerce. With the bus station and commercial activities one step away. Unfortunately, the crisis and a controversial road network have turned several customers away from the downtown shops.
