Presidio Territoriale di Assistenza Florenzo Jaja - Conversano

I happened by mere chance in the Day Service of ophthalmology of the territorial presidium of Conversano, having to undergo cataract surgery in both eyes. All in all, this is a small healthcare facility… but so efficient, well organized and well managed that it really gives hope that similar realities can proliferate in place of large hospital complexes. Here I came across an operational reality that at the base has - together with a high level of professionalism - endowed itself with a relational grace with the Patient of high depth: by way of example ... I was given every possible priority as a patient with unusual naturalness oncology and during the intervention any support of encouragement that made all the operative phases of the case easier. I am truly grateful to the medical staff, in particular to Dr. Maria Caterina Cascella, Head of the Ophthalmology Clinic, who operated on and subsequently checked and medicated me with great care and attention; I am grateful to the paramedics who followed the preparatory and subsequent technical-administrative phases of the intervention with a prompt and respectful involvement. At every level of administrative and political responsibility, I wish to adequately enhance these territorial structures and the resources that operate therein, in the certainty of thus contributing to placing these realities in the healthcare landscape that they deserve and that is of the highest rank.

I went to visit the visual field and I found a professionalism out of the ordinary. But what struck me most in the ophthalmology department is the humanity of all the experts in the sector, which is uncommon. Good, good, good.

Small health reality with the times marked by the tranquility of the past. The doctor assigned to the radiology department is an example of extreme courtesy and great competence, chapeau.

Wednesday 21 December 8 am; 30 am I had a dermatological examination because of some papules that appeared on my face; I must say that the incompetence of the dermatologist who carried out the visit was absolute: 1) just to start did not make any visited clinic but limited himself to simple questions about the reason for the visit; 2) did not give any hypothesis on the cause of the papules on the face; he was more interested in leaving his phone number for a later contact; 3) to my question if it could be "chicken pox", he replied absolutely not (so wrong diagnosis since a few hours later I was diagnosed with chickenpox in the Triggiano emergency room). To complete this wonderful picture of the Conversano hospital, there is also to say that "dermatological visits" are carried out in the room in front of that for "blood samples" with a waiting room for both blood samples and dermatological examinations in common; this means that many GRAVIDE WOMEN waiting for blood to be collected share this expectation with people potentially infected with the varicella virus. It is also possible to tolerate that a dermatologist does not do his job and that a simple diagnosis is wrong (and in any case I do not tolerate this) but putting him at risk of a dangerous infection for the fetus of pregnant women I just can't stand it .... therefore I will immediately report it to the competent authority.

Unfortunately, the F. Iaia hospital in Conversano has been converted into outpatient clinics, no active wards, for first aid contact hospital of Putignano or Monopoli.
