Santuario della Madonna della Misericordia in Rimini

Worth a visit

Erected in 1611, near "Porta Gervasona", here the image of the Blessed Virgin is venerated, to whom miraculous powers are attributed. The inhabitants of Borgo San Giuliano tell of a miraculous event: it happened in 1608 when a young man, who fell with his horse in the Marecchia river, asked the Madonna for help by placing his eyes on the image of the Madonna, which was on the wall that ran along the river, under the staircase of a tower, to which the chain was attached to close the port. Hence the name of the Madonna and of the church dedicated to her: Madonna della Scala. In relation to that event, the population of San Giuliano wanted to build a church in honor of Mary that was financed thanks to the alms of the sailors' families. The fresco is attributable to Alessandro Codrini (1608).

It is an important spiritual and Marian place of our city and of our Diocese. There are always welcoming priests available for every need.

pity the parking is abused by professors and students who do not leave free. the parking for the faithful even the elderly who have walking difficulties to access the Holy Mass..of 11 each morning .. SUCH DISCOMFORT according to the principal. The inconvenience caused by the CURRENT RECTOR OF THE SANCTUARY DON SEBASTIANO IS RECOMMENDED THAT IT DOES NOT STAY TO RESPECT THE RULES
