Chiesa di San Maurelio

Beautiful church located in the center of the town of Lavezzola. The building has 3 naves with a very beautiful central altar, above which there is a beautiful and impressive painting of the Last Supper. There are numerous statues (including San Maurelio, Sant'Antonio, ...) and paintings depicting sacred scenes and also a relic of a saint is kept. At the end of the right aisle there is a room with a small altar behind which there is a beautiful mosaic and a crucifix that overlooks the statues of the holy family. The building dates back to the 16th century, but has been recently renovated. But the surprise is the garden accessible from a door at the bottom of the left aisle, dominated by an imposing century-old tree, with numerous flowering oleanders, several olive trees and a statue of the Madonna. There is also a five-a-side football pitch and a football pitch; all this develops inside the inhabited center, absolutely not visible from the main road. From the garden you can admire the square bell tower in its entirety. The interior of the Church is very well kept, the garden a little less, but it is still pleasant and gives a sense of peace. Possibility to park in the parking lots in front of the building. A visit highly recommended.
