Absolutely beautiful and ornate church. Sunday mass is 0900 am.

The outside of the church has many statues. As it is some distance from the old town, there are few visitors and one can have peace inside soaking up the atmosphere

As part of the new arrangement of the most central area of Genoa, designed by the architect Carlo Barabino, the cutting of the current Via Assarotti was carried out in 1850, intended as an expansion of the city with the construction of houses for the upper middle class. A few years later, almost halfway along the current road, the erection of the Church dedicated to the Immaculate Virgin began, wanted and financed by the devout Pietro Gambaro, in conjunction with the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX , in 1854. The work, after an interruption following the death of Gambaro, continued a few years later with the contribution of the city and its citizens. Thus the Church was opened for worship in 1873 and elevated to Basilica in 1906. Both the facade and the interior are rich in sculptures, bas-reliefs, marble and stained glass windows. The main altar is enriched by the statue of the Immaculate Virgin, while an altar is dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario. The richly decorated church strikes the attention of visitors, but also invites not only the faithful but also occasional visitors to recollect, for the strong feeling of religiosity it inspires. The Church is currently a living center of aggregation for parishioners, who participate in numerous religious ceremonies

Beautiful on the outside, beautiful on the inside. The cofessionals are small works of art. During the occupation the faithful took them home to prevent the Germans from requisitioning them.

I grew up in this place here I attended the catechism for the first communion I did not confirm it here but at the parish ten thousand crucifixes in via canevari. The basilica is very beautiful internally also externally if there were not all the traffic that made the facade black. I am going to set aside now that there is an emergency and therefore neither I nor my family can follow the mass virtually from Facebook.
