If you are going as a tourist, skip it. The former glory days are long past and sadly this grande chiesa is in much disrepair. However, if you are going for mass, definitely go. The parishioners there were extremely welcoming to my family and my three month old baby who fussed during mass. One even insisted on taking us out for a cafe and brioche afterwards despite the language barrier. Very kind.

La chiesa di Santa Zita si trova poco fuori dal centro storico di Genova. La costruzione risale intorno al 1900. La facciata in stile neoclassico. L'interno ad unica navata a pianta centrale, in stile neorinascimentale. Spicca per: - la sua grande cupola; - per alcune sue opere pittoriche. Merita una visita se si é di passaggio. Ingresso libero. *visitato il 20/08/20*

Die Chiesa di Santa Zita beeindruckte mich enorm.Sie liegt unauffällig, eher versteckt, ich als Tourist ersah sie dennoch bei einer Vorbeifahrt mit dem öffentlichen Autobus, stieg aus und kam herbei:Der Bau als prächtiger Kuppelbau ist sehr großartig, denn ich bin ein großer Freund von Kuppelbauten, was mich auch mächtig anzog.Das Innere besticht in seiner Schlichtheit und Bescheidenheit, ohne Schmucklosigkeit zu zeigen: Schlichte, aber anziehende künstlerische Ausstattung zeichnen diesen Kirchenbau aus.Es handelt sich sicher um keine touristische Attraktion, obwohl der Kuppelbau für mich sehr fasziniernd ist und bleiben wird:Aber das wird wohl auch das Gute an diesem doch großartig-prächtigen Bau bleiben.Schlichtheit und Größe treffen hier zusammen.Ob je ein Fremder als Tourist darauf stoßen und aufmerksam werden wird? Die Chiesa di Santa Zita bleibt mir immer im Gedächtnis.Dieser Kuppelbau bleibe ein Ort der inneren Einkehr und des Gebetes, was seinen Zweck denn erfüllen wird.

The church, with a robust structure and rebuilt at the end of the nineteenth century, fully follows the excellent architectural solutions of the two greatest architects of the fifteenth century, that is, of Brunelleschi, for the dome (built at the beginning of the twentieth century) and of LBAlberti, especially for the facade. The interior is large and perhaps less interesting, on the other hand the church is not a museum, it has another function. Particularly interesting is the tabernacle. I attach some photos, including a very beautiful Crucifix.
