As it ways on the website:
The Biosphere is a striking sphere of glass and steel designed by the architect Renzo Piano, which you can find in Genoa’s Porto Antico (the Old Port). Here you can learn about the plant and animal life in tropical forests, and find out more about these fragile environments that are highly endangered by human activities. Visitors will have the chance of taking a close look at more than 150 species, with their fragile beauty, and you will also find out why their survival depends on all of us.
You will see rare tropical plants: not only tree ferns, but also plants that are traditionally used for human activities, such as gum trees, coffee plants, banana trees and cinnamon. The tree ferns that grow in the Biosphere are the tallest cultivated plants of this species in the whole world.
However, if you are not really interested in the plants and tropical animals do not go there. In size, it's really small. I personally liked it because you get close to wild animals and birds (please just don't touch them it's not allowed). It could take 5 mins to look around or half an hour it depends solely on your level of interest. If you buy the tickets that includes several attractions be careful because the Biosphere closes early (I think the last group of people enters at 18:30). We made this mistake thinking that everything closes at 19:00 and could not get in, so we came back the next day.
worst place to waste money. Biosphere is just a room with a couple of trees and 3 birds, few fish and a box of very common small spiders. Nothing to see and to appreciate. Going there is just waste of good 5 euros. Never recommend to anyone. Anyone can build it in its backyard. Also, it is totally pointless to contain it in sphere and put it in water. Useless stunts of earning money.
I like BIO, NATURE, ANIMALS AND ARCHITECTURE. Thanks
A place to move to the tropics. It is interesting, with many plants and animals. And a naughty and playful parrot.
The artificial ecosystems created by humans are not necessarily in balance with those natural, smart ones. That is why BIOSFERA develops implementation frameworks that make human ecosystems smart. We call this Smart Ecosystem Engineering (SEE).
SEE gives natural ecosystems a voice and a face so that they can participate in the distribution and the exchange of the value that they generate for us, for all life on earth and for the Biosphere as a whole.
Biosfera has developed the operating system for Smart Ecosystems called TUPIX. TUPIX allows both the ecosystems and the communities of dependent actors to monitor, manage and control this distribution and exchange of value in real-time, secure and transparent.
