Chiesa di San Leonardo

Church a little out of the way and not signposted but with a portal and a prestigious facade, important for the inhabitants of Forlì. Inside there is a seat in red armor, the origin of which is unknown, but it seems ancient, it should be explored.

The parish history of Gusciola has its origins around the year one thousand. Founded as a chapel under the Pieve di Rubbiano, the most remote date handed down by documents dates back to 1164, in the diploma of Federico Barbarossa of 1164 that testifies the existence of a castle, "castrum Laguxoli", dependent on the monastery of Frassinoro. The oratory of San Rocco was annexed to the castle, which according to some studies later became, enlarged and renovated, the parish church of San Leonardo Secondo. Gusciola is then named in the dedications of the Municipality of Modena in 1173 and in the list of the manners of 1261. Another date to witness the antiquity of the church is 1252 which, present in an inscription carved on stone, is walled next to the church outside the sacristy In the archive reference is made to a bell recast in 1394
