Favorite church of my daughter Liem
This is the most beautiful church. Off the beaten track. Fabulous frescoes. We have been to Orvieto many times and found this church for the first time a few weeks ago. Gorgeous setting. Quiet and away from the crowds. Recommended.
Beautiful and quiet church in the oldest quarter of Orvieto.
Church of San Giovenale. The church of San Giovenale di Orvieto is a Christian Catholic rite church located on the edge of the tuffaceous rock of the Umbrian city. The church of San Giovenale is located not far from the center, crossing the medieval quarter. The church overlooks a beautiful panoramic terrace. Externally a bit dark and bare, inside your attention will be captured by a few but beautiful frescoes left on the walls. A must see.
Located on the western cliff of Orvieto (the one opposite the cathedral), seeing it seems to arrive in another era, the early Middle Ages to be precise, then set as it is in the ancient and delightful neighborhood all around - which retains the characteristics of a village in its own right - with its view on the imposing cliff of the city, it is worth a visit on its own; not to mention the interior of the almost mystical halo typical of such an ancient church.
