Church of San Domenico. The church of San Domenico is a Catholic place of worship in Orvieto. Its construction began in 1233, a few years after the death of St. Dominic and is perhaps one of the first churches of the Dominican Order. You cannot stop in this ancient church at the entrance to the citadel to see one of the most important and significant works of the great sculptor Arnoldo di Cambio This is the sumptuous tomb of the French cardinal De Braye (at the time a very important exponent of the curia) who died here suddenly in 1282. It is worth a visit.
