The fresco of the Holy Trinity dates back to the 16th century (dated from some sources 1519 and attributed to a certain Grisolia). The rustic church was the heart of Avena, an ancient town named for the first time in a document dating back just over 1000. Abandoned following an earthquake in 1981, today the town presents itself as a perfect ghost town immersed in still lush nature. Beautiful and exciting

Abandoned village since 1980, due to an earthquake. I wonder why, since at first glance, it does not seem to have had serious problems due to the earthquake, but more than anything else due to abandonment. These are the mysteries of Italy.
