Monument Giuseppe Mazzini

To honor the figure of Giuseppe Mazzini (1805-1872) and those who were protagonists of the Italian Risorgimento, this monument was built forty years after his death, on the occasion of the Jubilee of the unification of Italy, and inaugurated in 1917 The bronze work by Luigi Belli represents the politician, patriot and founder of Giovine Italia in a reflective attitude, typical of the free thinker, on a civil altar. The plaque pedestal is decorated with the names of its supporters and the Capitoline she-wolf suckling the twins, symbol of the Roman Republic. The base below is formed by steps rising towards the rest of the statue.

Monument inaugurated in 1917, conceived by Luigi Belli, it had been built for the 40th anniversary of Giuseppe Mazzini's death but built a couple of years later. Particularly also from the fact that Mazzini is seated in an armchair, he seems to be looking at passers-by, the choice of place was chosen by the artist himself and alongside the Balbo theater destroyed by the bombing of the II war.
