We spent 2 weeks at Stella Marina hotel in 2020, and it was the most pleasant holiday. Stella Marina is not a traditional hotel structure, where all the facilities are housed in the same building. The reception, bar and restaurant are in one building, and the rooms and apartments are spread all over the property in a series of single or two story buildings. I find this layout very much conducive to the vacationing atmosphere, because instead of walking through hotel corridors and using elevators, you are walking around in open air, along nicely maintained footpaths crisscrossing the lawns.
The hotel is very close to the beach, so from our room to the beach it was no more than two or three minutes walk. The restaurant dining area, which is a terrace, offers a view of the beach, and it is close enough that you can hear the sound of the waves and smell the salty air. The surroundings and the proximity of the beach gives that little bit extra value, that makes your vacation really wonderful. Restaurant dining area does not feature much fancy decoration, it is not full of trinkets and kitsch. But it is clean, neat, and well organized. It is also spacious enough for comfort, you don't stumble over other guests while walking to your table, and even our kids did not cause any damage while running around the restaurant (the staff were kind enough not to reproach us over those mishaps, we had trouble controlling the kids at the restaurant).
Parking was also very convenient, the parking lot is very close to the rooms, and there are no complications. You park, make a dozen steps and you are in your room.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, but also very professional. One can easily tell this is a family business, because it is well run and you are always met with a friendly face. Hotel and restaurant personnel were always helpful, always willing to go the extra mile, they always did their best to meet our needs and fulfill our requests.
We took half board at the hotel, and we were not disappointed in the least. All the dishes were superb and served in a professional manner, there was none of that mess hall feeling you get in some hotels when you book rooms with meals. It was a restaurant setting, restaurant quality food with restaurant quality service. The variety of food on offer was also quite sufficient, the restaurant offers a well rounded Italian menu with a large variety of pasta, fish and meat dishes to choose from, and we never got bored with the menu. On top of that, restaurant staff were always willing to accommodate any requests, they even offered off the menu alternatives to accommodate our picky kids. The half board treatment was perfect, I highly recommend it. The best indicator of the food and service quality is probably the fact, that even though we only took half board at the hotel (breakfast and dinner), we ate lunch at the hotel restaurant almost every day. It was very good, so why eat elsewhere?
Our room was well furnished, well maintained, clean, free of any unpleasant odors, the cleaning and maintenance personnel at the hotel were doing a great job. The only minor drawback was a miniscule refrigerator without a freezing compartment, meaning you can't keep ice cream in there and you can't freeze the cooling units for your cooler box.
All in all, it was a very pleasant holiday. The kids loved it too. The hotel offers absolutely everything you need for a good vacation, if your idea of vacation is eating well in a pleasant environment, and going to the beach twice per day. If you, however, desire more activities, then Budoni and the wider area offers a lot. I am a history enthusiast, and I was very pleased with a number of interesting sites I was able to visit, including prehistoric Nuraghic culture sites, sites from the Roman times, medieval castles, you name it. If you are adventurous and are willing to explore a bit, there are a number of hidden gems to discover in that part of Sardinia.
I can only recommend Stella Marina hotel and Sardinia. What a wonderful holiday.
We always come here for breakfast as it's yummy.
Nice bar by Budoni beach
We went to this reataurant, but young waitress didn"t even give us a look. We were waiting for the menu for nearly 20 minutes, all other tables were served. Finally, hungry and disappoined, we left the place.
Italian restaurant located across the parking lot from the beach. 2 min walk to the water! Friendly staff. English menus available. Decent pastas and seafood. Salad was a bit plain. Price is acceptable considering the location. Very popular with tourist.
