Il Caffè dei Libri Udine

As an ex-pat living abroad, I have had the pleasure of visiting many fine Italian bars, particularly in Udine. All have their particular charms, but one visit to 'Il Caffè dei Libri ' and I knew that I had found something special.The ambiance changes to accommodate the time of day, but the food, the drinks, and especially the warmth generated by the staff remains consistently above average. Many return visits have done nothing to change my perception that 'Il Caffè' is a great place to chill out with a drink and a book, or pass an hour laughing with some friends. It's also quiet enough to discuss business over some fine lunch menu items. I have made ''Il Caffè dei Libri ' to be my bar of choice, for as long as I am in Udine.

I really like the cozy atmosphere in this book filled coffee shop. The staff is also soooooo kind and have always a smile on their faces (which makes this place even cozier). It's a good place to have a coffee while studying or just have lunch with a friend. At the end of the day you may find the place full of people having a 'aperitivo'. When weather is warm you can sit outside with a book to read. You'll find people of all ages here, from students to older people just chatting and enjoying the pastries and wine...

It was a very disappointing experience, especially compared to the previous management, when we first ordered we ask for a card of herbal teas and (instead of simply telling us that they didn't have one but only loose) they literally bring us 4 sachets without even stopping to get the rest of the tea. order. As soon as the waiter comes back out I ask him for a menu and he replies that he cannot take it out for the covid (even if there is an ice cream menu on all the tables) and he does not bother to tell me at all what to eat. just looking at me with the lively eyes of a carp also causing me a certain discomfort, to which surrendered to the fact that the light of the intellect will never kiss the employee's skull, I am satisfied with a coffee ... or so I would like to say, but also the coffee was a bitter disappointment, sour and overcooked. Experience not to be repeated, I would recommend reviewing the preparation of the staff regarding customer care.
