Very similar to the nearby Duomo but certainly older. Three naves with Roman columns. Raised presbytery with a Ciborium in the center supported by columns. The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta is the oldest building of worship in the city and in Montefeltro, representing the first material evidence of the Christianization of the area, carried out by San Leone between the third and fourth centuries. San Leo, Dalmatian Monaco, together with his friend San Marino settled in the Montefeltro and I will trust the autonomous communities of San Leo and San Marino. Unlike San Marino, San Leo lost its autonomy. The front of a sarcophagus is kept in the crypt, decorated with the depiction of two peacocks drinking from the cantaro, which represents the oldest sculptural testimony of the complex, probably prior to the eighth century.
