Quite beautiful. Ancient. Feels mystical.

I preferred it with the original stone flooring. Besides this anachronistic detail, it's a unique medieval gem.

A Duomo that exudes history, charm and faith; valuable details inside. The site on which the cathedral stands, a protuberance of rock, was used for the worship of divinities since prehistoric times. The construction of the first early medieval cathedral took place in the seventh century, when the ancient Montefeltro (San Leo) was built as a civitas, becoming the seat of a diocese. The remains of the first church are incorporated into the current Longobard-Romanesque structure. Numerous sculptural fragments also remain, such as the remains of the ciborium of San Leone, capitals with phytomorphic motifs and the winged lions of the porch, which support a column of the nave. On a pillar of the central nave, between two ovoid heads, the date 1173 is engraved, probably referring to a restructuring intervention by workers led by Emilian-Lombard master builders A must see !!
