Suitable place for a Sunday walk. Stunning view of the Furlo Gorge and beyond. The name Pagino means "small village" and derives from the Latin pagus (village). It boasts a very ancient history: it was the scene of clashes between Umbrians and Etruscans, Gauls and Piceni. According to tradition, moreover, it was in the Pagino area that the battle between Narsete and Totila (552 AD) was fought, an event that marked the end of the Goths in Italy. Subsequently these lands were occupied by the Byzantines and then by the Lombards. It was with the dominion of Urbino and the Montefeltro that Pagino was able to flourish and enjoy a period of peace. Even today in Pagino, surrounded by greenery, you can see the small cemetery, the Church of S. Clemente and the houses built with stone from the Furlo. Near Pagino is the Gola del Furlo, one of the most evocative places in the entire territory which, along the path that leads to the nucleus of houses, can be admired from completely new perspectives.
