The building is part of an ancient Avellanite monastery.

Dating from the middle of the year 1000 is the certain church most ancient of the Arceviese. It was part of the ancient Massa di Sorbetulo and was owned by the Camaldolese of Fonte Avellana, then disputed by the Bishop of Fossombrone. Restored and rebuilt in 1700 today is the diocese that grants it for rent.
