CANEVARE - Fraction of Fanano (MO) Following the road that from Fanano (650 meters above sea level) climbs up to Pian Cavallaro (1,880 meters above sea level), from where, continuing on the Atmosphere Path, you can reach the summit of Monte Cimone (2,165 meters above sea level), after a few kilometers, you meet the village of Canevare (990 m asl), the name of the village derives from the hemp plant, which in the past the inhabitants of the place used to cultivate. The small village stands on the slopes of Monte Calvanella and is built on the edge of Piazza dei Falchi, a flooding of the road that crosses it. The Church of San Michele, the most representative building of the place, was originally an Oratory and was promoted to the Parish in 1712, the facade and bell tower are in rusticated stones, with an appearance with Romanesque forms. I traveled this road by car and bicycle, sometimes I made a stop at the Hotel Gabriella, a welcoming and peaceful place that offers excellent hospitality, located near the Cimone ski resort and the Adventure Park of Lake Ninfa. The family-run restaurant offers the gastronomic specialties of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
