Church that needed a long restoration due to the earthquake.
Inside you can admire works of high value.
Its exterior is also very impressive with the avenue with roses, a flower, let's remember it, a symbol of Santa Rita and the place.
The collegiate church of Santa Maria is located in Cascia within the walled perimeter, next to the Leonina gate. Erected in the 12th century (in the north wall it preserves remains of the original Romanesque structure) it was rebuilt in the Gothic style
(this makeover has also been lost)
and in 1532.
It is the first thing to see as soon as you get to Cascia. The crib brings you closer to a world of spirituality and the rose garden after the first flight of stairs!
Important for the pictorial cycles of the late 1400s, one of which was discovered following the removal of an altarpiece damaged by the earthquake of 2016
