Pieve del Pilastrino

The Pieve del Pilastrino di Roteglia or simply "il pilastrino" is a chapel built in 1986 in memory of the ten Rotelesi who died in 1985 during the mud flood in Stava. During this tragedy 268 people died. The flood was caused by the collapse of the banks of the settling basins of the Prestavel mine which caused the leakage of about 180000 m3 of mud, which violently overwhelmed the town of Stava, in the municipality of Tesero. It is known as one of the greatest tragedies that hit Trentino Alto Adige. The Pilastrino owes its name to a brick pillar that was located on the hill, now it has been built over the small bell tower where by playing 10 strokes at a rhythmic rhythm you can remember the fallen.
