Church of SS Annunziata. The Church of the Santissima Annunziata is located outside the fortress of Castel Viscardo, near the old temple dedicated to Santa Caterina and Santa Maria, along the axis that leads to the entrance portal of the Castle of the Princes Spada in Castel Viscardo. The construction works began on 20 December 1672, in late Baroque style, on the initiative of the Marquis Orazio Spada on a project by the architect Giuseppe Brusati Arcucci, most likely adopted son of Camillo Arcucci, both used by the Spada family for Roman works. Other architects followed one another during the construction phases of the cult building, including M. Pioselli and T. Mattei. The construction was completed in 1682, as can be seen from the epigraph placed on the facade, the latter completed by Bernardino Spada, son of Orazio, only in 1688. The materials used in the construction (the brick and the stone of "Bagnorea", ie the volcanic stone extracted from the nearby quarries) represent a strong index of territorial connotation.

The altarpiece is the Siena Niccolò Tornioli, of great artistic value: beautiful movement of bodies: represents the SS Announced. Tornioli became famous for his four works in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Peter's in Rome: the Baptism of Christ, Confirmation, Holy Oil, Penance, and for Astronomers, a canvas kept at the Spada Gallery. It houses also a lovely ivory crucifix donated to Sword in the eighteenth century by a French leader to the ruler Sword. Church truly fascinating and worthy of visitata.E 'almost always closed .... just for the 18 Rosario can be found open to give us a sneak peek!
