The foundation year is not known, although the church appears in a Vatican document from 1564. This church, now almost forgotten, has played a particular religious function in past centuries for the seafarers who lived in the nearby neighborhood, in fact despite being without income, it was maintained by fishermen (source: Comune di Roccella Ionica site). Very small church located in the district which takes its name from Sant'Antonio Abate. Recently renovated, very pretty and cared for. In recent years, thanks to a citizens' committee, which also deals with the festival of the same name that takes place in January, the church is being increasingly re-evaluated.
