The Church of S. Agata in Filo Three churches were headed in Sant'Agata in the territory of Argenta wire: the first built in Borgo Molino, the second Filvecchio in 1373, the third in Borgo Maggiore as 'Church of Sant'Agata di Filo', completed in 1525, it was demolished in 1931. the disappearance of these churches (the first even disappeared in the ninth century) is also attributable to the constant flooding and settling of the time that the last territory and became dangerous. It had a single nave, without a ceiling, facing west, with three ceiling-mounted chapels. The altar dedicated to St. Agatha and S.Apollonia had a wooden tabernacle as he described it in 1890 Don Cellini. The tower had three bells with the image of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of St. Anthony of Padua, of Jesus and of St. Agatha (Catania A.D. 235-251). The history of the latter, a Sicilian girl, is very simple: young, rich and noble family, renounced his marriage demanded by a Roman governor to dedicate himself to prayer. For this he was tortured, mutilated breasts and placed on hot coals dying martyr on February 5. She was elected patron saint of Catania and patron of the Etna fire city. The new and current St. Agatha Church in Filo is located almost at the junction with the road leading to tender, alongside that demolished described above. A parchment reveals the date of the laying of the foundation stone: on 20 October 1929. Once and consecrated in 1934, the construction was financed by the Curia who settled 29,000 lire, an insufficient amount for the execution of works which nevertheless interested in particular the foundations necessarily reinforced due to the instability of the land that was still marshy at the time. The façade remained unfinished and was not rebuilt the tower even if the original bells were kept in a makeshift accommodation and never called into work. Today it looks like a beautiful red brick church built on a design by Eng. Francesco Gualandi of Bologna. It has four access steps and a beautiful marble portal dominated by a semi-circular single-light window. Six windows enrich the left side wall and seven right front with four round windows on each side under the covered with five protruding archivature. The church has a single nave and inside two small chapels host Our Lady of the Rosary and the papier-mâché statue of Sant'Agata. Above the altar is lit by two large round windows placed the original image of the Madonna and Child with the Sant'Agata feet and Apollonia; It comes from the demolished church as well as the statue of the patron saint and the Annunciation painting by Carmelo Ricci who painted only 16 years old. Finally, there is a beautiful Via Crucis dating back to the 18th century. On February 5 of each year Filo, straight from Don Giancarlo Galeati Parish celebrates its Santa.
