It is the main church of San Donà di Piave, in 1854 the long construction work of the new bell tower was begun, completed only in 1902 sixty years after the consecration of the church. The church was completely destroyed during the First World War, the church and the bell tower were built between 1919 and 1923 on a project by the Venetian architect Giuseppe Torres and consecrated on 19 September 1925 by the bishop of Treviso Andrea Giacinto Longhin
