An interesting visit. The building is divided into 3 areas. The one below with the remains of the old church, bell included, a wooden crucifix without surviving hands of the Vajont disaster and various photographs of the terrible period and models of the area. Then there is the actual amphitheater-shaped church on two tiered levels and two small chapels next to it. Unfortunately there was no statue of Mary on the boat, sadly replaced by a photo with no explanation of the shortfall. And finally the upper part, an actual open-air amphitheater with steps, with an excellent view of the valley and a panorama of the Vajont gorge. Near the entrance to the right on bronze plates the names of the 1910 victims. Church to see and discover.

It is a church with a particular external architecture, which gives you the opportunity to see the panorama of a new Longarone from its top. And automatically come back with the thought of 1963, the year of the Vajont tragedy. I was 8 but I have images of that morning broadcast on television, printed in memory. There is a mystical air there, respect and always the eyes look for the dam. We often pass by Longarone and there is no time we don't stop. The interior of the church is then clear, a union a close brotherhood around the altar. Very deeply felt.
