Oratorio di San Rocco

Small oratory dedicated to San Rocco the protector against the plague and great epidemics. The population is very devoted to him because in 1600 the plague did not reach these areas. Inside you can admire the statue of the saint.

The oratory of S. Rocco has rather considerable dimensions, with the traditional horseshoe-shaped plan formed by the side of the apse bottom connected to the hemicycle with the side walls. The building is located in a corner between the main ascending road and a secondary road, with a location that enhances the facade facing the central area of ​​the village. Being disposed with the longitudinal axis on the slope line of the road, access is raised on a landing served by bilateral flights of three steps. The façade, completely covered with a precious "opus quadratum" stone facing, corresponds to the traditional system with a pair of windows flanked by the architraved portal and a four-lobed rosette in the center. The two-pitched roof protrudes over a double-sided molded eaves cornice, and is surmounted on the ridge by a small bell gable. The remaining walls of the building are plastered, the roof presents the mantle in sandstone slabs; the maintenance conditions are excellent.
