Chiesa di Barigazzo

The Church of San Giorgio of probable Byzantine origin dates back to 400-500 and shows a portal with a rose window and sandstone windows. Inside there is a precious canvas from the end of the sixteenth century "St. George kills the dragon" of the Ferrarese school and some sandstone canes dated 1859. The bell tower, a typical construction of the Frignano of the 18th century, imposes its great size on the modest dimensions of the Church. (Source: Appennino Modenese website) In front of the entrance door of the church, there is a Passion Cross, in memory of the missions of the Passionist Fathers, placed on top of a sandstone column and dated 1824, with the IHS monogram engraved in the center of the column. The parish church of San Giorgio of ancient foundation but with a 19th century appearance.
