Hotel Villa Fraulo

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was big (a first for a European hotel) and clean. Maybe it's because we paid for a better room. Bed nice and comfi, staff friendly and helpful. Nice's and quiet at night to enjoy some great sleep. Great location with amazing view! Breakfast, I will give it 7/10. But the hotel is literally steps away from Ravello square where you can go for more food options.

I remember to been celebrated so many marriages and each of them has always been magical and unique. We visited just for food and the customer service was really bad. We felt like the waiter was really rude and we felt very unwelcome. The only reason I’m leaving three stars is that the food was good and the views were incredible.

I WAS STOLEN in this hotel; in every hotel I stay, I usually put my cash in the safe and take a small amount for my daily expenses. In my second day in this hotel, I noticed that there was a 150 EUR missing. At the beginning, I thought I was mistaken. At the end of my third day, and before leaving to have the dinner outside, I counted the money in front of my wife before closing the safe. In the morning of my last day I opened the safe and I found out that another 100 EUR was missing. In order to see how this safe can be opened without the code, I called the reception and told them that I forgot the code, so they sent someone with a key and he easily opened the safe and I knew then that someone from the hotel was STEALING my money. I went to the reception and informed him about the incident and he said he is sorry he cannot do anything!!! I asked him about the cameras to check who entered the room other than the room service; he said the cameras are only installed in the common areas and no cameras in the hallways!!! I asked him to give me the phone number of the owner he said the owner doesn’t speak English!!! I asked him who has the master key of the safe, he said the reception on duty!!! I asked him who was on duty last night, he said himself!!! I left the hotel because my flight was scheduled in the afternoon from Rome (3 hours drive) so I didn’t have time to file the case with the police. I don’t understand how such a lovely and romantic place (Ravello) couldn’t change the greedy behavior of such people.

We found Class A drugs in the bathroom during our stay. It’s hard to capture all the problems we had at this hotel in one post, but my husband summed it up when he said that “at Hotel Villa Fraulo, they really don’t care if you are dead or alive”. In fact, if you did actually pass away at the hotel it’s unlikely they would notice until you failed to pay for your extras. Nevertheless, I am going to attempt to list the issues we experienced here: The first and most disturbing event was finding lines of sinister white powder on the glass shelf in our bathroom. I’m not sure if it was from a previous guest, or maybe the maid trying to spice up her day, but either way it’s not something I would ever expect to find in a hotel room. When I brought it to the attention of the reception, they simply waved the issue, and told me I was mistaken. Secondly there is no WiFi in the rooms, and it barely works at the pool. There is also no proper phone reception in the hotel. Maybe you will like that, but we didn’t. Next, the air conditioning didn’t work in the room. And as we were on a low floor we couldn’t have the window open at night as there would have been easy access to the room. When we complained, they just told us they had reset it, and couldn’t seem to understand why we were still talking about it. To add to the blazing heat in our bedroom, the shower only had one temperature, which was scolding hot and meant we couldn’t use it. When we brought it to the attention of the porter he fiddled with the dial, shook his head, and said “that’s the only temperature there is”. I must excuse from this review the waiting staff at the restaurant who were very nice, but otherwise the general attitude of the reception staff was terrible. I won’t be staying here again.
