Place of peace and serenity, very nice and friendly friars, the mass at 8.30 am is super.
Franciscan convent recently renovated, in the structure and in the confreres. Welcome, availability, courtesy and Franciscan spirit always present.

Wonderful place
The square owes its colloquial name to the presence of the church of San Francesco d'Assisi and the adjoining convent of Franciscan Friars Minor. The cult building was built at the beginning of the seventeenth century incorporating a pre-existing cemetery oratory of San Vito, but in its present form it is the result of an almost total reconstruction after the 1936 earthquake. The church preserves inside sculptures in white marble of Fra Claudio Granzotto (1900-1947), beatified in 1994, who lived for a long time in the convent. On the west side of the square is the monument to Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Franciscan father who died in a German concentration camp in 1941, beatified in 1971 and declared a saint in 1982.
