Chiesa di S.Francesco

Very little remains of the ancient church of San Francesco, the earthquake of May 2012, in addition to having seriously damaged it, has completely collapsed a part that has been removed in order to allow for its safety. Certainly inside this church (with the ancient convent next to it converted into a school building - for decades the Liceo Classico G. Pico) there were the tombs of the Pico and an interesting organ that I had the honor and pleasure to play a few decades ago, when at the beginning of the school year, it was customary to celebrate mass with high schools.

Years have passed and they are still rebuilding. Impressive to see how the church is propped up ...

A sad reminder of what it was.
