Once upon a time there was Vigata ... Camilleri chose the churchyard of this splendid cathedral to set the 19th century Vigata. The churchyard entirely surrounded by the loggia is very spectacular. Thanks to the set of paintings and frescoes, considered important for the history of painting in Sicily, on 24 February 1908 the basilica was erected as a national monument The basilica is part of the late Baroque style together with the churches of Noto, Ragusa and Modica which became part of the UNESCO heritage. Ispica also deserves this important recognition.

Amazed by a basilica in a small town that houses one of the most intricate statues I've ever seen ... "Father of the Furnace Column is well known throughout the world."
