Oratorio di san Gaudenzio

Vallesone is a beautiful hamlet full of ancient houses partially restored. The small oratory dedicated to the first bishop of Novara has an uncertain origin, perhaps very distant in time. What is certain is that the current building dates back to the 1600s when the Counter-Reformation pushed to demolish the old churches to erect more beautiful ones. The "treasure" of this is the altarpiece attributed to the Vigezzino painter Carlo Mellerio. Too bad having found it closed but you can not expect.
